Title: Something

Author: DorsetGirl

Fandom: Life on Mars / Green Day

Disclaimer: I don’t own Sam Tyler - BBC/Kudos own Life on Mars and its characters. Green Day own themselves. No profit made nor offence intended.

Rating: G or White Cortina for nothing much at all
Warning: Faintest hint of RPS, but only Sam looking at someone and wondering.

Pairing: Suggested Mike Dirnt / Billie Joe Armstrong

Word Count: 100

Summary: I wrote a story called Later, which was from Mike’s pov during a Green Day concert. Now let’s imagine the concert took place in Milton Keynes in June 2005, and that DCI Sam Tyler of the Greater Manchester Police was in the audience.

A/N: I wrote this for the Friday Drabble Crossover Challenge at Lifein1973, then realised I couldn’t post it there because Green Day fic is RPS *headdesk*. (If it weren’t for the RPS element, I would have put the crossover and pairing information after the drabble, for the surprise).

Author: DorsetGirl
Rating: PG-13 for language and implied sexual relations

Pairing: Mike / Billie Joe
Disclaimer: I don't own Green Day. They are real people and this work is based on their public personalities. I make no claim to know what they’re really like and mean no offence to anybody.

Word Count: 416

Notes: Also posted at Coming Clean. This is Real Person stuff - if that squicks you, don't click. This is the first time I've written an American, so it may need whatever is the opposite of Brit-picking. Comments and friendly concrit welcome! (I've since written a Life on Mars crossover drabble, imagining that Sam Tyler was in the audience for this concert).

I actually remembered to switch on the TV when I got back from the school run, to watch PG promoting his book on BBC Breakfast.

He's looking very fine, very Gene Hunt around the tie and sidies, but what had me cackling insanely was this immortal line:

"I have a personal relationship with Tufty"

Love the man.

I have so got to tell Mikey.

Title: On The Road to Freedom

Author: DorsetGirl

Fandom: Life on Mars

Disclaimer: I don’t own these characters or their universe. BBC/Kudos do. I’m not making any money out of this.

Rating: White Cortina

Pairing: Sam/Gene

Word Count:  1,510

Summary: Gene learns that taking Sam home isn’t going to be as easy as he had hoped.

A/N: Part of the Survival series. The piece that I finished Wine and Candles for is still not playing ball, so I wrote this instead. This chapter takes place on the morning Sam finally gets out of hospital, in other words a few hours before Not Just a Cry for Help. Not beta'd, so do shout if you have any comments or concrit.

I'm all caught up on the flashslash prompts now; I've managed to post both fics for prompt 81 before 82 has been posted so I shall consider myself up to date and ready to be grown-up about it. Or not.

Anyway...

There are so many things I'm trying not to think about just now, that I'm finding it impossible to settle to anything at all, including writing. Which makes having discovered [livejournal.com profile] flashslash  a total life-saver, because I really need to write at the moment. Anyway, yet another miniature stress-relief fic, written for Flashslash prompt 80.

This is my third attempt, and I've finally managed to incorporate the prompt words, so I got very brave and posted at[info]flashslash . On re-reading, I realised that the setting was probably inspired by[info]mikes_grrl ’s Locked Up.

This is my second attempt at Flashslash (a story written from scratch in eight minutes) – still without a prompt. This time I had the first line waiting, which didn’t seem to make that much difference in the end.

Late last night, I discovered the[info]flashslash community, courtesy of[info]halotolerant. I’ve spent far too much time lately editing stories that have been too long in the making, so I thought I’d give it a go. I haven’t posted the results at that community, because I didn’t feel like following prompts, and having read Halo’s awesome Hazel/Bigwig offering it was obvious I couldn’t begin to compete.

I did write this in exactly eight minutes, though, adding only the quote marks after the time was up. It’s unpolished, to say the least - I’ve definitely written better in less time when the muse was on form - but I thought I’d post anyway and to hell with it.

Flashslash First Attempt – Sam/Gene, obviously. Rating PG )

Title: Wine and Candles (6/6 – Complete at last!)

Author: DorsetGirl

Fandom: Life on Mars

Disclaimer: I don’t own these characters or their universe. BBC/Kudos do. I’m not making any money out of this.

Rating: Brown Cortina for sexing

Word Count: 1223

Pairing: Sam/Gene

Spoilers: None.

Summary: Dessert. And about time too.

Author’s Note: I’m not sure if this is the dessert people asked for way back when Wine and Candles was first posted, but it’s the way the boys wanted things done. And Gene is still  talking and thinking even as he finally makes with the sexy. It’s too important for him to just relax and enjoy it.

Previously in this universe: Moving On; Wine and Candles: Part 1; Part 2; Part 3; Part 4; Part 5. I don’t do plot, so it’s not necessary to read previous chapters to get this. But it will add depth to what’s happening if you do.

I’ll be honest and admit this could probably do with a little more polishing, but I’m going on holiday on Saturday and I want it out of my WIP folder by then; it’s been hanging around far too long and I want to get back to Survival. Assuming anyone’s feeling kind enough to comment, I’ll probably see the comments before I go, but I probably won’t be replying until I come back. If anyone’s going to the London meetup on Saturday 18th October – see you there I hope! (PM Wibble at TRA if you’re interested – I think there are a few spaces left).

Summary: It’s not just the past that’s a different country. The future’s pretty weird, too.

Author’s Note: I wrote most of this some time ago, but I wasn’t sure what to do with it. Then in a comment last week, walkerbaby unknowingly provided a great ending. Just a silly bit of fun.
