Welcome to the Seasonal and Topical Drabble. In historic news this week we have:
24th February 1981 Prince Charles and Lady Diana announce they will marry in the Summer
20th February 1986: MIR space station launched
21st February 1997 ‘Bridgewater Three’ released from prison
So the prompts for this week are:
Living in Space
Wrongful Imprisonment
Royal Wedding
and in a scene from my own life...
Broken-down Car
I’ll be having a go after the school run, but don’t wait for me - if you’re inspired, go for it!
Post your drabble as a comment to this post, and if you have any ideas for future seasonal prompts, let me know by PM. I may also use the occasional completely random prompt if something occurs to me.
The rules are minimal - One hundred words exactly, and be polite when commenting!
You can write any fandom or original fiction, any pairing or none.
You don’t have to write in English if you don’t want to.
Please note that if you do choose to write in another language, I can't promise to comment beyond a simple "Thank You", although I will do my best via Google! A rough translation would be lovely, but is not essential. The translation does not have to be 100 words, nor does it need to be polished or “good English”. Just the gist is fine, to put across the idea.
And don’t forget, as long as you are confident that your response meets one of the prompts, that’s good enough for me.

Wrongful Imprisonment (The Devil's Whore)

Date: 2010-02-28 12:53 pm (UTC)Finally getting time to post... (Broken-down Car, Life on Mars, Gene/Sam)
Date: 2010-02-28 12:02 am (UTC)It had been building between them all day.
Something different in the to and fro of insults; some new intensity in the air around them as they walked the crime scene side by side. After lunch - a pie and two pints in a quiet back street - the air fairly crackled with it.
Whatever ‘it’ was.
By halfway through the evening Sam was ready to explode with nerves or impatience, possibly both. It was there, he could feel it, and he itched to get things moving.
Something must surely happen soon, but he couldn’t start it.
Gene was still his boss.

Date: 2010-02-28 12:03 am (UTC)Gene was silent for a moment then turned to Sam with a neutral expression on his face.
“We seem to have broken down, Sammy.”
Sam nearly laughed at the cliché and smiled broadly.
“You seriously expect me to believe that?”
Gene turned off the ignition with a decisive click. “It’s either that or...”
He moved towards Sam with a wicked grin.
“...we’ve run out of petrol.”
