So, Doctor Who. Very briefly, because I basically fell asleep half an hour ago.
I liked this episode rather a lot. I thought a lot of the things that it said about religion were interesting.
Like - it’s having faith that killed them. Only people who put aside their faith and thought for themselves could survive.
Hmm, the whole “Amy Williams” thing... It came over to me like “I don’t think I should keep you any more, it’s too dangerous, and so I’m handing you over to your husband. At last.”
As in, as long as she’s with the Doctor, she’s Amy Pond, because that’s what he wants to call her. But as soon as he’s ready to ditch her for whatever reason, she’s Amy Williams, because that’s what Rory wants to call her.
Did anybody ever ask Amy what she wanted to be called?
(Declaring a point of view here - even if I did ever get married, I would keep my own name. My. Name. Oh go on, yeah, I know it’s my name because it was my father’s name, but the point is, it’s the one I was born with.)
And I totally took it for granted it was the Master he saw in that room, but I see da internetz thinks differently. Most people seem to assume it was the Doctor.
