Hi again, and welcome to the second Seasonal and Topical Drabble Thingy!

I’ve been having a look at the BBC’s On This Day pages for the week Sunday 31st January to Saturday 6th February. A couple of stories stood out for me, and they’re giving us this week’s prompts.

In 1953, on February 5th, sweets finally came off wartime rationing in the United Kingdom.
In 1974, on February 5th, the newspaper heiress Patti Hearst was kidnapped in California, US.
In 1983, on 31st January, seatbelts became compulsory in the UK in most circumstances.

So the prompts this week are:
Sweet(s)
Seatbelts
Kidnapping
Stockholm Syndrome

I hope you can find some inspiration somewhere in there!

I’ll be having a go after the school run, but in the meantime, if you’re interested, have at it!

Post your drabble as a comment to this post, and if you have any ideas for future seasonal prompts, let me know by PM. I may also use the occasional completely random prompt if something occurs to me.

The rules are minimal - One hundred words exactly, and be polite when commenting!
You can write any fandom or original fiction, any pairing or none.
You don’t even have to write in English if you don’t want to.

Please note that if you do choose to write in another language, I can't promise to comment beyond a simple "Thank You", although I will do my best via Google! A rough translation would be lovely, but is not essential. The translation does not have to be 100 words, nor does it need to be polished or “good English”. Just the gist is fine, to put across the idea.

Oh, and I should mention, so long as you are confident that your response meets one of the prompts, that’s good enough for me.

Here’s a little experiment. I have no idea whether there will be any response, but if you don’t ask, you don’t get, so here goes:

I always enjoy the Friday Drabble Challenge over at [livejournal.com profile] lifein1973, and while I was babysitting the challenge over Christmas I used mainly seasonal prompts. That gave me the idea to try writing a seasonal or topical challenge every week, perhaps around Tuesday to break up the week. And then I thought - I wonder if anyone else would like to join in?

What’s the topic this week? Well, in India, January 26th is Republic Day. And in Australia it is (has been) Australia Day.

So my prompt for this week - and yours if you want to join in - is either of the above, or Independence or New Beginnings or It's a Very Long Way.

I’ll be posting my effort after the school run, but in the meantime, if you’re interested, have at it!

This is obviously an extremely low-profile challenge, so if you've never written anything before and are nervous about posting, now's your chance.

Enjoy!

I’d hoped to post in time for Porntober, but RL ensured that I even missed Pervember. Maybe we could consider it my entry for Sexbycember. The scene takes place immediately after The Only One.

John Simm has said that The Master is desperate after his death and apparent resurrection in the upcoming Doctor Who two-parter 'The End Of Time'.

The actor told Radio Times that the character he first played in series three's 'Utopia' had been transformed into an "emo Master" for the new episodes.

Simm said: "This is a Master who's lived and died and now lives again - although he's seen healthier days. He's desperate, and desperate means dangerous."

Outgoing showrunner Russell T. Davies added: "It's personal for The Doctor. The Master is his enemy, his opposite, and yet so tantalisingly close to being his soul mate.

"There's something epic about their sheer existence - the last two survivors of an ancient race. It's a clash of the titans. Both of them, heading for death, and yet both determined to survive - at any cost!"

The final episodes of Davies's tenure as the programme's head will also see the farewell of David Tennant's Tenth Doctor, who will be regenerated into Matt Smith's eleventh incarnation of the Time Lord.

A/N: Just about the only good thing to come out of completely losing my hard disk recently was rootling around the backup disks and realising how much nearly-finished fic I had lying about waiting for tidying up. This one spoke to me so I thought I’d try to get it done and posted. A bit different from my usual, perhaps; I hope you like it.
