Gene reaches wonderingly into the drawer, then withdraws his hand again. He can’t believe it’s here.
Without conscious thought, his fingers trail reverently across the soft leather and his breath hitches at the memory.
“Gene, oh yes, just...” Soft brown eyes smile up at Gene; a finger touches his lips so gently it could be a dream.
“Lie down, Sam, please, let me touch you. I’ve waited so long for this.” Breathless murmurings echo in his mind as if from yesterday, blossoming in the imagined scent of Sam.
He strokes the leather one last time and reluctantly closes the drawer.
