I am so utterly surprised at you being a fan of Green Day...I'm not sure why. I mean, I'm a huge Offspring fangirl, so hey, what? Come to think of it I can't say I ever pictured what music you DO listen to. I mean, not like I thought you were a Celine Dion fan (although you might be...which is the point: I am, usual, clueless).
I love this as a looksee into the world of the on-stage experience. I'm sure musicians get into the zone, but not 100% of the time, and after all they are playing songs they have played onstage 1000 times before. At some point you are going to look up and just take in what is going on around you.
And I thought the whole 'you do not upstage the drum solo, jackass!' was very funny, because yeah you can love someone and still get annoyed with them. Totally.
I saw Front 242 back in '98, I think, and those guys were well over 40 at the time. They played so hard and were so hard-bodied they outdanced and outlasted the audience, many of whom were in their 20s. For some reason this made me remember that. I guess if you are doing what you love, you will find the energy to keep going until you drop.
