Enough. Stop Now.

It's not been the best of weeks so far. I got stopped by the police on my way home on Saturday afternoon and they told me, very politely, that my MOT had run out. As it was only by two days, and you don't get a reminder, they said they'd let me off, and I would need to go straight home and not use the car again until I took it for a pre-booked MOT. Hence the fic (Thank You, Gene).
So I've had to send youngest son to school in a taxi this morning (village five miles away, no public transport, no other car, dangerous narrow winding hilly roads and his bike's broken anyway - £15 each way) and I'm going to be raiding piggy banks to pay the taxi home again.
And I really can't convince myself the car is going to pass the MOT, and how I'm going to pay for repairs I really don't know. OH is already panicking about how he's going to pay the instalment on his work vehicle on Thursday, and he's earned almost nothing recently because of visiting his Mum in hospital.
And he's just phoned me to say she died an hour ago, just before he got there. She seemed fine when I saw her on Thursday, if a little weak, but apparently the chest infection was just too much.
She always annoyed the hell out of OH, but she was a kind, sharp-witted and fun person who I liked very much. And that's likely to be her only obituary, so I'll say it again:
And now I have to phone her sister's carers to get them to tell her the news.
